For years I mistook the blockage for stability — told myself the title meant I was safe, that the past I'd built was who I had to keep being, that stepping out would cost me everything. That's the illusion. I know it from the inside, not from a textbook — because I left, at a level where everyone around me thought I was insane to leave.
